The house-studio was acquired by the Municipality of Pistoia in 1987, following Melani’s death, and has been preserved to maintain its original character. In addition to Melani’s own works, the museum’s collection was significantly enhanced in 2005 with the donation of 148 pieces by Donatella Giuntoli, a close friend of the artist​.
